As environmental pollution continues to affect the world, people have come to see environmental issues not as distant problems, but as “our” problems. Many substances we encounter in our daily lives pose threats to the environment and our health.

Among these, PVC tape has become a serious concern due to the explosive growth of e-commerce. The environmental problem stems from the enormous amount of packaging waste, with piles of PVC tape used in parcel packaging growing every day.

In 2019 alone, a staggering 60 billion parcel boxes were used in China, and the length of the PVC tape used was 4.8 billion meters—enough to wrap around the Earth 1,200 times. PVC tape generates hazardous chemicals throughout its lifecycle, from production to use and disposal. In particular, the incineration process releases highly toxic substances like dioxins, causing severe environmental pollution.
